Although the team is fairly new, the history behind the Jurocks
is rich with character and myth. We invite you to read out timeline
below which starts from the very beginning and takes you through
all the ups and downs with the team.

Pre-Season 1999
|
The history of the Jurocks begins in a time
where Fantasy Football was just a glint in the eye of the
first owner Sam Vegter. Here he spent millions acquiring a
team to play others online through a service called Sandbox
Full Contact Football. Although not fully sanctioned by Phi
Mu Alpha, this was a minor league league that would help the
team focus for later challenges down the road.
During this time it is rumored that the name "Jurocks"
came from the owner not being able to decide what he should
call the team. With deadlines approaching he finally glanced
at the walls around him noticing a "Jurassic Park"
and "The Rock" movie posters. Immediately the name
Jurocks came to mind and the legend began. Not much is known
about the individual players who comprised of the early Jurocks
team, but it is recorded that the owner had taken a part of
a very long and tedious draft that took place over several
weeks online. |
|
1999 Season
|
New to the game of Fantasy Football, the Jurocks came out
of the door slow and sluggish. Throughout the season the team
struggled to keep their heads above .500 while competing against
better-drafted, better-coached, and better-experienced teams.
The season was hardly one to remember with the final score
coming to 8-9 and a #5 place finish among the league (of 10). |
|
Pre-Season 2000
|
Still not sanctioned by the Rho Tau brothers of Phi Mu Alpha,
this was yet another minor league competition among very competitive
players online. This time the draft was accomplished using
lists that a coach could create through the website. Another
difference in this season was the addition of 4 new teams
to the league. These teams brought with them the added burden
of the difficulty of attracting good Fantasy Players. One
coach might hope to have at least one player in the top ten
of their position and if they had two they were unstoppable.
|
|
2000 Season
|
The coach was no longer a rookie in his second
year playing Minor League Fantasy Football.and his new records
was showing it. Even though the team consisted of mainly second-rate
players, the attention to who was playing who kept the team
ahead of others. There were no huge wins during this time,
but the few points that pushed the Jurocks over others was
enough to get the team to finish #3 in a league of 14. |
|
Pre-Season 2001
|
After seeing the results of the Jurock's 2000
season, they finally got their big break as they were invited
to join the major leagues in the 10 team Phi Mu Alpha league.
Once reaching this point in their history they started to
attract some of the best players in the league. During the
2001 draft they were able to attract Daunte Culpepper, Rod
Smith, and Antwain Smith. |
| 2001 Season |
The 2001 Season was one of the hardest fought
seasons the Jurock's ever faced. The league consisted of 9
other teams that had much money resting on the line if they
won or lost. When the dust of the season ended the Jurocks
held their first league title. With a record of 13-5 they
stood at the top of the league despite a 3 game losing streak
at the end of the season. |
|
Pre-Season 2002
|
Once again the team was invited back into the
Major Phi Mu Alpha league as they came back to the draft table
against 10 championship teams. This time the newly restructured
league held a team called the High Point Lampshades. The once
assistant-coach of the Jurocks, Shawn Allred (Opie) was now
a full-fledged coach and adversary. |
| 2002 Season |
Jeff Garcia and Garrison Hearst helped carry
the team to a 2nd place finish as the Jurocks held off a horrible
start of the season. Surviving losing 6 games in 8 weeks,
the Jurocks went from last place in the league to second only
missing the first place slot by one loss. In that first place
slot was none-other than the once Assistant Coach, Shawn Allred. |
|
Pre-Season 2003
|
Unfortunately, due to a lack of good league space,
the Phi Mu Alpha league moved from its home at Sandbox Full
Contact Fantasy Football to Yahoo! Fantasy Football. Once
again there were 10 teams hungry for the top spot. In amongst
these teams were last years winners the High Point Lampshades
as well as a new coach that was once the HP Lampshades' assistant.
C. Logan now controlled the Onyx and was looking to win, not
only over his former boss, but the original coach of the Jurocks.
The season would also include an 8 team playoff that would
determine who won the title or not. |
