Once again the North's lead over the South grew by leaps and bounds up to 21.72. If they playoffs were to start today, the North would have 5 teams, out of 8 moving towards the PTL crown. The north still sports the only undefeated team, while the South is dragging alone three winless. If you'd like to write for this page, please post in the league message board, or send it via email to svegter@bellsouth.net WEEK 5 Analysis
Tempered Onyx vs. Your Daddy - With only
a 10 point spread this game could go either way. Both teams are plagued
by bye-weeks and both teams are looking to fill over 4 spots on the
roster. This game will really test the Onyx' depth. Looking back over
the past four weeks of games, the Onyx would've lost to Your Daddy 3
out of 4 weeks. With Bye-week concerns and a bad history we look for
the Onyx to be overtaken by the Daddies as they get a piggy-back ride
to beatsville. HP Lampshades vs. Carolina Mud Dogs -
Yet another incredible close game! Also look closely to see that this
one game has two weekly awards attached to it. It is Gora's Smokin'
Hot Game of the Week and Tobias' Cool Hand Luke Underdog of the Week.
As with the Onyx game, if we look at history, the Mud Dogs would've
beat the Lampshades 3 out of the 4 past weeks. This gives the dogs the
ultimate edge as the second of two unbeatens breaks it's bulb. Now for the losers..... That's My B*tch vs. Kryptonite - Although
the Kryptonite team is not the best team in the PTL, they have been
able to keep a .500 average through out the first four weeks of the
season. Unfortunately, the B*tches are being plagued by the bye-week
curse as four open starter spots have opened on their team in week 5.
Although Kryptonite might not be the hardest team, the B*tches won't
be able to snap their streak. The Culture Club vs. Jagermeisters -
Jagermeisters would've won over the Club the past 4 weeks. The Culture
Club is a 42.17 Point Underdog. This is almost certain that the Jagermeisters
will absolutely drink (and play) the Clubbers under the table. Point
blank. Jagers win. PT Riptides vs. Jurocks - Once again
the Riptides are facing a fairly tough challenge. Although not as easy
to predict as the Jager game, the Riptides definitely have more of a
chance to finally get that "W". As long as the Jurocks are
able to score on offense, they should be able to devour the Riptides
giving them a new spot on the PTL Hall of Fame Loser Board. |
Week 6
And then there was one. First of all, we must congratulate the HP Lampshades on being the last undefeated team for the 2005 season. Now we need to see how long they will be undefeated. HP Lampshades vs. Mtnears! - The Lampshades will face very tough competition from an almost bye-week free Mtnears. The lampshades will be without their starting TE, K, and D. Due to the fact that the those players aren't "essential", it will only help their chances at winning the allusive 6th in a row. Looking back to the history of these two teams, the Mtnears would've beaten the Lampshades three out of five times. But within each week, it would have been very close. This game is a very difficult call, but we believe at the PTL home office that the Mtnears are too hot a team to be denied a win. Watch for the Lampshades to lose by a slim margin. And now... back to those loveable losers That's My B*tch vs. Jurocks. - Given that the Jurock team is all over the place in scoring, the B*tches have a decent chance of making this a close game. Their underdog status is mainly due to several of their players on bye-weeks, and if they replace those positions they will get even closer to making this game respectable. In the past, the B*tches would've won two out of five, so all these indicators are positive in the their direction. The possible replacements, such as Tony Gonzolez & L. Johnson are very high-powered players, and would push them even closer to a "W". If Coach Vermillion gets around to replacing these players, and we think he will, the PTL believes that the B*tches will win their first game of the season The Culture Club vs. Barenjagers - Although the B*tches have the best chance if they change their roster around, the Culture Club has the best overall chance at winning their first game if they simply sit there and do nothing. After much activity on the trading block, we believe that the Culture Club will also gain their first win of the season PT Riptides vs. Leviathans - The poor Riptides got beat down in week 4 by the Jurocks and look to get the same treatment by the South Division's #1 team, the Leviathans. Look for the tides to be out and the PTL's worst team to be the last winless team of 2005. Week 6 features
an interesting Big Brother/Little Brother match up between Chris Barton's
# 5 ranked 'Bruisers' and Daniel Stevenson's #9 ranked 'Muddogs'. The
big question going into this game, of course, is Big Ben. Have the Bruisers
made the mistake of putting all of their eggs into one big Roethlisberger
basket? The team was quick to pick up both Tommy Maddox (also struggling
with an injury) AND Charlie Batch to make sure the QB position would
not go unfilled. [ed note: The Bruiser's currenly have back up QB Delhomme
offered in a pending trade.] The Muddogs (3-2, 489.75 pts) and the Bruisers
(4-1 491.55 pts) have both had a sucessful first trimester of the season.
Aside from the 'Dogs very close loss to the undefeated HPLampshades,
the two teams are virtually dead even going into this weekend. It should
be a fun matchup to watch! For whom does the bell toll in Week 6? Will
Big Ben chime in or sit out? Will the Muddogs be made into Hushpuppies?
Is there a PTL Hall of Fame award for one team owning an entire NFL
franchise's QB roster? All questions to be answered this Sunday! |
