Commentary

More tid-bits about the end of Week 6& Coming into Week 7!

1. This week, the North averaged 99.4points (this is up 22.7 points from week 5!! and higher than any week the South has posted), compared to the South's 95.2 (up about 4 points).

2. We once thought that the uber competitive South Division was looking like the Superbowl Determining division, but after a monster week by the North, it could still be up for grabs. The South posted a total score of 7621.8 only 504.8 5 points higher than the North's 7117. If the North continues their trend, they could easily catch up to the South before the Playoffs.

3. The record between the two leagues in the Ghost Games is
North 15           -            South 12
Can you say almost a "Sweep"? The North DOMINATED the South in week 6. With one undefeated team, and no teams without a win, the North is beginning to emerge as a serious Superbowl Threat. 10 (TEN!!) Teams scored over 100 Points in a monsterous showing of strength for division. It's interesting to note that the only North team to lose in Week 6 was their top team, the PT Bruisers to a mediocre Goo Crew..

4. Take a look at the Strength of Schedule ->
Week 6 had the MOST movement of teams since week 1. This was due to the wild scoring of several teams. Many of the once thought "dead" teams have come to life and are now really putting up a fight.

5. A few of you guys mentioned that you'd like me to keep track of my record of picking the Ugly Games & Upsets of the week. I thought I'd keep a little journal here for you. And NO... don't consider my pick for you to win to be a curse!

Ugly Game of the Week
Upset Pick of the Week
4-6
7-3

6. 12 out of the possible 17 games the underdog beat the favored team. I'm beginning to think that I need to stop keeping track of the underdog/spread status. It's a nuts year as most teams can't seem to find a steady average.

7.
Congrats to the Bruisers! The only undefeated team left in the PTL! Barely scraping by the All-Clarance team, they continue their Northern Dominance and continue their streak up the PTL Hall of Fame Leaderboard.

11. If you are looking to help here is what I need
A. Someone to look through the games each week and pull out the individual weekly award winners
B. Someone to take a look at the upcoming week's games and, if there is something interesting to note, do a write up
C. Someone to check to see if any Hall of Fame Records are broken each week
D. General articles about the PTL, interesting tidbits, fun stories.

As we near the end of the regular season I thought it would be nice to post the Vegter Poll. This is an "opinionated" poll on playoff rankings & projections, as well as a poll for those teams yearning for their chance at a post-season bid.

Team Comments
THE TOP 4
1.
How can you not vote against the PTL's current best team. With an overall record of 8 and 1, these guys are the most legit superbowl contender we have to date. They seem to be able to win even the tightest of games, a trait that is very valuable in the post-season
2.
Don't see that the overall record of Pappy's Crew is a meager 4 and 2. Look at the total points. This team is currently #1 in the PTL with a total of 724 points. Both losses have come in very close games, and if they can get that edge (or luck) in their upcoming games, they are going to be very hard to beat.
3.
Suprised? So am I. The Goo Crew is on a roll. They have won 4 games in a row to bring their record up to 6 and 2. They started out as a very weak team, and, to everyone's suprise beat a very tough Raleigh Lightning in a ghost game this week. This might be the south's most legit chance in the post-season.
4.
They Won it in 2005. Can they do it again in 06? The Mtnears have been winning their way through the weeks, and just recently bit their first loss bullet. If they can re-find their scoring machines, they should be able to pump up their score and take that "luck" with them the rest of the season.
The Second Tier

5.
The lightning started off very strong, and just recently have begun to sputter. A loss in week 6 by the Goo Crew probably knocked them back down into the second tier, but you can never count Pat's team out for the count.
6.
It's really hard not to be biased towards the Jurocks. With three weeks of scores above 100, and two of those scores above 120, they are a force to be reckoned with. Unfortunately they seem to have caught the "unlucky" bug with losses to the Mtnears and Hanso FC. With the league's easiest schedule they should be stomping through the competition, but haven't found their edge yet.
7.
The Lone Rangers have found a way to win against the South. If only they could win against the North. Consistency is keeping this team from rising through the ranks as they have scored a weekly total from 39.2 all the way up to 106.
8.
As much as I hate to admit it, the Booty Bay Basher's draft strategy might have worked. Drafting most of the Dallas Cowboys have given them the edge in several games. When Dallas plays even mediocre, they win. But, the downside is, when Dallas plays poorly, Booty Bay Loses.
9.
The Jagermeisters are finding a way to win. With three weeks above 100 in points, and two of those weeks in the last two, they are becoming an immovable force. The only thing holding them back would be their #2 hardest schedule in the South, and #2 hardest schedule in the PTL. If they can find their way around those numbers, they should be able to move farther up in the poll.
10.
Hoy State might be yet another sleeper team in the PTL that will take down a few giants on their way to the post season. Currently #9, and outside of the playoff bracket, I can see them continuing to average their 92 points per game and winning more close matches.
The Muddled Middle

11.
One of the last remaining teams above .500 that doesn't make the top 10. But when you've only scored one game above 100 points, you can't expect to win too many PTL contests.
12.
Although ranked 3rd in the North, the Inferno has an overall record of 4 and 5. This losing record puts a pretty big black mark on the team and keeps them from the top 10. When they are able to start winning games versus the South, they might be able to move up.
13.
The Crusaders are the game's best worst team. They have scored above 100 points 5 times!!! Yet they still have a 5 and 4 overall record. Unless they regain that "luck" component soon, they will start to slide down that North Division ranking.
14.
When the Eagles win, so do the Dukes. With McNabb losing his star receiver Stallworth, the Dukes have been hurting.
15.
Two games of 127 and 131 repectively have helped move the Sabers up from the bottom of the pile. If they can continue to make these types of scores, they might be able to start winning more games.
16.
Can the Lampshades buy a break? With scoring all over the place, they haven't been able to become consistent in 2006. Unless they can get some of thier "electricity" back, they will continue to wallow in losses.
17.
Top 4 Team in the South? A team that finally unseated the Mtnears!? Not really. If it's any indication, the Culture Club, at one point, changed their names in disgust on how the season was going. After drafting most of the Chicago defense, their wins will have to come from the windy city's ability to do anything.
18.
The Dogs are in for a hard season. Only at .500 (4-4), they have a long hill to climb to get back into the playoff mix. Dan has always been a good coach, so they aren't written off just yet, they just have a lot to do.
19.
Hanso FC has just knocked off the Jurocks. They did this by scoring over 100 points for the first time this year. Unless they can continue this trend, they will keep falling back in the PTL South.
20.   The Bigmaxers don't seem to know what they want. One week they score 117 and another they score 49.1. You never know what to expect out of this team, and in the end, that uncertainty will ultimately give them a losing record.
21. The Devils have been lucky... very lucky. Because of this they have been able to scrape together a 4 and 4 season. With scores averaging under 70 points, they will probably make their way towards the bottom of this ranking sooner than later.
22.   Have the All-Clarance Team finally come to life? The week 6 game had them almost winning against a very strong PT Bruisers. If they can keep up their 100 point scoring, they can make their way up the ladder very quickly.
The Bottom 4

23.
Mosul has an overall record of 3 and 4. Their scores of 132 and 130, however, do put a little bit of shine on this little team. Unfortunately, even with a score of 130, they still weren't able to pull out a win. Unlucky from the start, they continue to wallow.
24.
Still the coolest logo in the PTL, the RoidRage have done nothing. Unless they do something very soon they will continue to be the lowest North Division team on this poll.
25.
Once upon a time the Leviathans ran deep into the 2005 Playoffs. Then they got stuck and haven't found their way back yet.
26.
The Revolution haven't made a roster move, or fixed their bye week players in weeks. They might as well be considered a Ghost Team.
