More tid-bits about the end of Week 12 & Coming into Week 13!

Congrats to the Jagermeisters on being only the 2nd!!!! team to get an invite to the postseason thus far. I can't recall any year in the past where we've only had two teams qualify for the playoffs at this point in the season. It's an attribute to just how competitive the North and the South has been this year. Last week I tried to sit down and come up with all the playoff scenerios and just for the 10th place team in the South alone there were 4 - 5 options on getting into the postseason. I will try to do a bit of that in the Vegter Poll, but it's amazing how even a team with a losing record might make the post-season.

The record between the two leagues in the Ghost Games is

5. A few of you guys mentioned that you'd like me to keep track of my record of picking the Ugly Games & Upsets of the week. I thought I'd keep a little journal here for you. And NO... don't consider my pick for you to win to be a curse!

9. Time to start thinking about the end of the year. Where would you guys like to set the celebration dinner in Jan.? We did it in Greensboro last year and there was a moderate turnout. What would be easiest?

As we near the end of the regular season I thought it would be nice to post the Vegter Poll. This is an "opinionated" poll on playoff rankings & projections, as well as a poll for those teams yearning for their chance at a post-season bid.

THE TOP 4
1.		The Bruisers plowed through the competition, earning a playoff spot well before any other team in the PTL. Finally, in week 12, they met their match (maybe depending on stat corrections) against a fiesty Raleigh Lightning team struggling to get into the playoffs. The Bruisers, with an average score of 119.28 are still the one team that looks like they could win the whole thing.
2.(+4)		The Jagermiesters have the second hardest schedule in all of the 2006 PTL. Yet, they continue to win! They have been knocking on the door to the top four for several weeks, and with the Muddog loss and a playoff bid, they leaped over both the dogs & the Jurocks to take the spot as the #2 PTL team and #1 Southern Division team in the league.
3		Next in the North we come across the usually dead-in-the-water-this-time-of-year Mark's team. In 2006 he has totally thrown out the bad rap and has started a new tradition for the Killers... A winning tradition.
4		Yikes, the Jurocks are flailing lately. In week 12, they really had to dig in deep to win on Monday Night. With three weeks of under 100 scores something is not quite right in dino-land. They have, however, been able to keep their head above water. Week 13 will really put them to the test as they play the #4 team in the South and the #6 team in the Vegter Poll, the Carolina Muddogs.
The Second Tier
5.(+4)		Not since the Peyton Manning era has the Rangers done so much winning. With an overall record of 11 and 5, they are one of the top three teams by virtue of wins and losses. Although their scoring has much left to be desired they have still found ways to win.
6(-4)		The Muddogs have now lost two weeks in a row. They face the #2 Jurocks in Week 13, and the #1 Jagermeisters in week 14. Right now they face their own destiny. If they win they're in, if they lose both... There is a chance that these dogs won't make it to see Week 15.
7(-25)		After a record breaking week the Chupacabra posted a very respectable 127.1 points. More than 90% of the time this score would have won the game, but up against a resurgent Swingline Sabers, and a score of over 180, there was not much fight left in the Mexican Demons.
8.(+4)		Another fairly good game by L. Tomlinson gave the Lampshades their 3rd victory in a row and pushed them once again back into the playoff hunt. With an overall 10 and 7 record, and decent scoring, these guys are back to the form we usually expect from Opie's Crew.
9(-2)		Finally the Crew has gotten their chance. Beaten twice by really unexpected teams, they put up large numbers in Week 12. A score at that level, consistently, will win them this whole thing...
10.(+5)		Now comes the hard part for the Crusaders. Their final two games will be the beginning of the climb to the top. If they are able to win at least one of these, they should expect to be able to squeeze into the playoffs with their total score. Lose both and they're out!
The Muddled Middle
11.(+3)		Wow. Simply Wow. David has slain Goliath. With a score only 0.35 Higher than the Bruisers the Lightning found a way to win. Against all odds they are back into the playoff race as it screams towards the final two games.
12.(-2)		The thing that keeps killing the Culture Club is their non-conference schedule. It was hard by any means, and they just can't seem to win against the Northern Teams. Even though they are #3 in the South, they seem to be playing at quite a bit worse than that.
13.(-2)		A win put the Inferno in control of their own destiny in the North. Now in 4th place, they only need to win one game in order to stay alive for the postseason. With a bye-week in week 14, they pretty much have this wrapped up.
14.(+3)		The Bigmaxers have quite a bit of catching up to do if they are going to make the playoffs. They not only need to win their final two games, they now need a bit of help from the rest of the crowd to squeak in at one of the final spots.
15.(-1)		Is Andrew still there? With yet another loss this promising team has dropped out of the playoff race in the South. With no apparent coach at the helm they will continue to drop in this poll, and in their chances at making the post-season.
16.(-8)		Quite possibly the biggest drop a team has had in the Vegter Poll. The Booty Bay bashers were looking great until they got on this 3 game losing streak. If Derek doesn't right his ship soon, he'll be watching the playoffs from the Docks.
17.(+3)		187.1 Points 'Nuff Said
18.(-2)		Someone's not watching their team. They could have easily walloped the Jurocks if they had switched out their dead Quarterback. D. McNabb scored 0 points. The Duke's backup... 33. Ouch
19.(-1)		Do you guys remember when the Mtnears were #1 in the South? At one point this year they were...
20.(+1)		Two wins in a row put Hanso back at the #8 spot. Now all they need to do is scratch and claw their way to the end.
21.(+1)		The win over the Mtnears in Week 12 really helped this team out. Now it's one and their done for the Malibu Team.
22. (-3)		Y-ouch. The leviathans lost and were ultimately crossed off the post-season list. See you guys next year!
The Bottom 4
23.		You never really know with the Rage, sometimes they are alive, some times they are dead. Looks like the doc has already call the time of death....
24.		If this is a race to NOT finish, the Devils are doing a pretty good job.
25		Even when it's Cold, Cold, Cold....
